BP Permit

Hi, and thanks for visiting Mexico Fly Fishing.

My name is Rhett Schober and I developed this site for the fly fishing angler who wants to come and enjoy the numerous and diverse fly fishing opportunities that Mexico has to offer. My passion for fly fishing started at the age of 4 when my father let me use his yellow Fenwick combo travel rod to catch my first trout on a fly. Fortunately, my home town of Vail, Colorado, provided me with an amazing opportunity to pursue what has become my greatest passion. After going to college in Florida and getting a taste for the salt water, I was literally hooked. From there I had the unique opportunity to go to Mexico, study the Mayan Indians and explore the Yucatan’s incredible fisheries. After college and a career in Japan I landed back in the Yucatan where I now call home. I live in Akumal Mexico in the heart of the Riviera Maya where I manage my vacation rental company, Akumal Villas, and fish to my hearts content in and around the Yucatan.

That challenge is now easier to overcome with the advent of the SUP or Stand Up Paddleboard. Boardworks Badfish MCIT Inflatable I have tried many traditional […]
